Duty Selector

De Duty-selector zoals te zien vóór de installatie

Als je alleen geïnteresseerd bent in rijactiviteiten, kun je dit deel overslaan. Voor Explore Mode is het echter essentieel.

In Beta 3.17 vind je een nieuw zijmenu genaamd Duty. Hierdoor kun je een route instellen voor netwerken zonder verkeersregeling, zoals bij de trams in Hageningen. Met dat systeem communiceert het voertuig met de verschillende punten langs de lijn die de sporen veranderen om het voertuig in de juiste richting te leiden.

Opzet

In tegenstelling tot eerdere netwerken waar je waarschijnlijk aan gewend bent, werkt de CVL hier niet (behalve een klein aantal punten). Om de route voor een lijn op te stellen, moet je het volgende doen:

1. Klik Dienst en voer vervolgens met het toetsenbord het driecijferige treinnummer in, dat kan zijn wat je maar wilt, maar moet beginnen met het bijbehorende cijfer van elke lijn (zie hier). Klik dan Binnenkomen

2. Klik op Lijn en gebruik het toetsenbord op het scherm om het nummer van de lijn die je wilt rijden in te voeren, bijvoorbeeld 14, en klik dan op Binnenkomen

3. Klik op Route Kies de route van de lijn die je wilt rijden. Gebruik nu de ▲ en ▼ Sleutels om de gewenste route te vinden. Daarna kun je klikken Binnenkomen

De Duty Selector is nu ingesteld en het zou eruit moeten zien zoals op de foto rechts. Afgezien van wanneer je in het kleine aantal punten bent dat we later in deze tutorial behandelen, ben je nu goed om te gaan.

Seinen

In Hageningen en het bovengrondse deel van het Essim-tramnetwerk vindt u drie verschillende soorten seinen: routelichten, wissellichten en verkeerslichten. In de Essim-tramtunnel kom je lichtsignalen tegen die worden uitgelegd op de ARI-pagina.

Routeseinen

Dit zijn de signalen die op dat kleine aantal punten te vinden zijn. Die kunnen handmatig worden bediend via de CVL (met de RWI/RWO-codes). Wanneer je onder de Duty Selector rijdt, worden de meeste automatisch geactiveerd wanneer je in de buurt bent, terwijl andere vereisen dat je op de vertrekknop drukt; standaard toegewezen aan Tab

Wisselseinen

Wisselsignalen, in tegenstelling tot routesignalen, tonen de toestand/richting van een punt. Het biedt geen bescherming en blokkeert ook geen andere treinen om bijvoorbeeld op een botsingspad op hetzelfde spoor te komen:) De signalen kunnen niet handmatig worden bediend via de CVL. Als het signaal dat je wilt doorgeven om wat voor reden dan ook niet duidelijk is, kun je het punt handmatig aanpassen met het commando in de CVL (zie CVL Tutorial) en dan langzaam doorgaan. WSO

Verkeerslichten

Bij kruispunten kun je verkeerslichten tegenkomen. Als de tram op straat rijdt, moet je de gewone rood/gele/groene verkeerslichten volgen. Wanneer er een speciale trambaan is, gebruikt de tram de rood/gele/witte openbaarvervoerslichten. Verkeerslichten werken automatisch, hoewel je misschien kort moet wachten tot het einde van de huidige cyclus voordat je licht opgaat.

Belangrijke punten

• Lijn 11, evenals delen van lijnen 12 en 13, en enkele punten nabij Hageningen Centraal gebruiken ZUB-treinbeveiliging met de bijbehorende seinen

• Hoewel er geen officiële snelheidslimiet is, moet je langzaam rijden met ongeveer 30 km/u (nog langzamer (15 km/u) in scherpe bochten en wissels) en voorzichtig, want andere trams kunnen verschijnen in een knooppunt dat je niet kunt zien in de CVL (zoals je gewend bent bij andere netwerken).

• Bij haltes van dubbele lengte stop je aan het einde van het perron en niet in het midden, omdat die extra ruimte wordt gebruikt voor een tweede tram in gedeelde secties

Duty Selector

The Duty selector as seen before setting up

If you're interested in driving activities only, you may skip this part. However, for Explore Mode it's essential.

In Beta 3.17, you will find a new side menu called Duty. This allows you to set a route for networks without traffic control, like with the trams in Hageningen. With that system, the vehicle communicates with the various points along the line which change the tracks to guide the vehicle to the correct direction.

Set up

In contrast to previous networks you're probably used to, the CVL doesn't work here (except for a small number of points). In order to setup the route for a line, you have to do the following:

1. Click Service and then using the keypad, enter the 3-digit train number, which can be whatever you like but must start with each line's corresponding digit (see here). Then click Enter

2. Click on Line and using the on-screen keypad, type the number of the line you want to drive, e.g. 14, and then click on Enter

3. Click on Route to pick the route of the line you want to drive. Now use the ▲ and ▼ keys to find the desired route. After that you can click Enter

The Duty Selector is now set up and it should look like in the picture on the right. Aside from when you are in the small number of points mentioned before which we cover later on this tutorial, you are now good to go.

Signals

In Hageningen and the surface section of the Essim tram network you will find three different kind of signals: Route signals, Point signals and Traffic lights. In the Essim tramtunnel you will encounter light signals which are explained on the ARI page.

Route Signals

These are the signals found on that small number of points. Those can be controlled manually via the CVL (using the RWI/RWO codes). When running under the Duty Selector, most of them are being activated automatically when you are near them while others require you press the departure button; by default assigned to Tab

Point signals

Point signals, in contrast to Route Signals, show you the state/direction of a point. It doesn't include any protection nor does it block other trains from coming, for example, towards you in a collision path using the same track :) The signals cannot be manually controlled though the CVL. If for some reason the signal you want to pass is not clear, you can manually change the point using the command in the CVL (see CVL Tutorial) and then proceed at a slow speed. WSO

Traddic lights

At road intersections you can encounter traffic lights. If the tram runs on the street you have to obey the regular red/yellow/green traffic lights. When there is a dedicated tram lane the tram uses the red/yellow/white public transit lights. Traffic lights work automatically, although you might need to wait shortly until the end of the current cycle before your light clears.

Important points

• Line 11 as well as parts of lines 12 and 13, and some points near Hageningen Centraal use ZUB train protection with the respective signals

• Even though there's no official speed limit, you should drive slowly at around 30 km/h (even slower (15 km/h) in tight curves and switches) and carefully as other trams might show up in a junction which you cannot see in the CVL (like you're used to with other networks)

• In double-length stops, stop at the end of the platform and not in the middle, as that extra space is use to accomodate a second tram in shared sections
